Meet the Doctors

Dr. Deborah J. Stein

Dr. Deborah Stein is a graduate of Tinora High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from BGSU and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2006, at which time she joined Defiance Optometric Group​​​​​​​. Dr. Stein is proud to provide the members of her hometown community with their eye care needs. She enjoys practicing primary eye care, including prescribing glasses and contact lenses as well as the diagnosis and management of various ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and various eye infections. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association.

​​​​​​​Dr. Stein lives in Defiance with her husband and four sons. She is a member of the Defiance Lions Club and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she enjoys being involved in music ministry. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, and playing the piano.

Dr. Jacquelyn G. Short

Dr. Jacquelyn Short is a native of Northwest Ohio and graduated from Archbold High School in 2007. She completed her undergraduate work at The Ohio State University as a Biological Scholar/Pre-Optometry Major. She then attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating Magna Cum Laude with her Doctorate of Optometry in 2014. While in optometry school, she served with Fellowship of Christian Optometrists on many local and abroad optometry-based missions. She completed extern rotations at Optivue in Toledo, Ohio and at the Veteran Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee. She then practiced optometry and served on local missions in East Tennessee and Southern Kentucky for seven years before moving back to northwest Ohio with her husband, also from Archbold, son, and dogs.
